ALFIE JONES
BORN: 7 OCTOBER 1997
COUNTRY: ENGLAND
Although Alfie was born in Bristol, it was down on the south coast that he first started playing his football after joining Southampton FC at just 9 years old. It was here that having come through the ranks, Alfie played in a few cup games for the Saints. The club named Alfie Jones Young Player of the Year in 2015. But as is the case with most youngsters coming through the ranks at a Premiership club, Alfie needed to go out on loan to secure regular first team football.
Travelling from one end of the UK to the other, he was loaned out for the 2018/19 season to Scottish Premiership side St Mirren. He made 15 appearances in all competitions – with 14 of those coming in the top-flight of Scottish football. His solitary goal for St Mirren came in December 2018 before being recalled by Southampton later in the same month.
The 2019/20 season saw Alfie enjoy another productive temporary stint away from Southampton – this time at League One side Gillingham. During this time, he became a regular in the side and was successful in racking up 35 appearances for the Gills in all competitions. As a midfielder he managed to contribute 2 goals during his time with the club.
Alfie has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with Hull City – with an option of a further 12 months.
