Andy Dawson steps in as interim coach for struggling Hull City

They say a week is a long time in football and this week has certainly felt long for us of a black and amber persuasion. This weekends game being the third since the international break and a lot has happened.

So far this week we have conceded three goals, scored none, some of us were soaked at Luton and sad against Sheffield Wednesday but Wednesday brought news that most of the tiger nation have been wanting the sacking of Head Coach Tim Walter.

After just 3 wins this season and no win since 1 October, Tuesdays match with The Owls was the final straw, tension had been building amongst the fan base since the defeat at Oxford on bonfire night but Tuesday saw chanting from most corners of the ground for Walter to go, the faithful had seen enough and a statement on Wednesday evening confirmed Acun Ilicali had made the decision to remove him from his position and place club stalwart Andy Dawson in temporary charge for the trip north this weekend.

Now a trip to Middlesbrough is one that has never been great for City with 26 trips to Teesside since WW2 and just four times have they come home with three points, including a 36 year spell from 1986 to 2022 without a win. There have been 2 draws in 2010 and 2019 with the home side winning the other 20 clashes. Time to improve that record maybe?

Andy Dawson may decide to make changes for the trip but with none of the major injuries nearing return he may have to go with what he has, Steven Alzate may be involved in some way as he is now back training but Doğukan Sinik is sidelined again after picking up an injury in training.

Hopefully with the change of manager it will give the side a boost in confidence and possibly a change in system will mean results start to improve and as we currently sit in the bottom three, maximum points in North Yorkshire would certainly give us a boost moving forward.

Lets go to the Riverside on Saturday be loud and proud and lets get the boys over the line. Come On City.

Potential Line: Pandur, Coyle, Jones, Hughes, Drameh, Slater, Simons, Palmer, Kamara, João Pedro, Omur.

Prediction Middlesbrough 1 Hull City 1
