First game of the 2024/25 season - Willkommen Tim Walter

For me, it is still cricket season, and I wish we could start the new season, after the transfer window has closed. We would then know our squad and have a good idea how we might fare in the new season. On the other side, it’s a welcome distraction from depressing home events.

As it stands, this has shades of 2016/17 when Mike Phelan had to try and work wonders with very little. It was reassuring to see the Chairman Acun Ilicali fly in and explain where we are with transfers. In the last two days we’ve signed Fin Burns and Racioppi both very positive moves. We now need to add to our midfield and attack.

I’m sure we can again be competitive.
In the meantime, we must get behind Tim and his team, and be their 12th man.

The Robins finished strongly last season, under Liam Manning and have had a very good pre-season.
They have added two strikers to their ranks in Fally Mayulu from Rapid Vienna €3.50M and Sinclair Armstrong for €2.95M from QPR.
They will arrive, full of hope (and cider) for a positive season.

I was impressed by Hull City in the 1st half versus Fenerbahce and in the 2nd half against a decent Fiorentina side. Sadly, Ryan Longman, who starred, will miss this game through injury.

Possible starting XI:
Racioppi
Coyle
Drameh
Jones
McLoughlin
Slater
Mehlen
Omur
Oscar
Giles
Simons

Prediction Hull City to win 2v1.
