Hull City AFC vs Coventry City Monday 14th April 8pm Match Preview by James Chestney

Another crucial match in our bid to stay in the Championship..........

After Charlies Hughes bullet header at Hillsborough last week saw us claim three points on a day of which most thought was a below par performance most of the city faithful thought that could have being the stepping stone towards survival however Tuesday nights trip to Watford brought us all back down to earth.

Another poor performance saw the Hornets take the spoils and with the weekends results it leaves us just two points above the drop zone and makes tonight’s game with the Sky Blues a must not lose ahead of two massive games at easter.

Frank Lampard's side arrive in East Yorkshire on the back of a last minute victory over Portsmouth on Wednesday night and are looking to cement their place in the play off places, Lampard has made a fantastic impact in Warwickshire since his arrival in November with the club being 17th and two points above the drop zone when he arrived so a gargantuan turn around in form since then.

Head Coach Ruben Selles is not expected to have any of his sidelined players back although Louie Barry could feature before the seasons end but Mondays game comes too soon for the Villa loanee.

City are looking for only their third win over Coventry in the last twenty years with a victory in 2008 and also 2022, there have being four defeats and two draws. Coventry haven’t been as frequent visitors as some since City returned to their second tier in 2005 as in 2012 they dropped into League One and subsequently into League Two whilst been in exile at Northampton Town after disagreements with the owners of their CBS arena home back in 2014 but the once first division and premier league stalwarts seem to be on their way back to a return to the to flight in the not too distant future.

In what could be a massive week for us though a win tonight and backed up with a positive result down in South Wales at Swansea on Friday could see us eight points clear of the drop zone with just nine points to play for heading into Mondays home clash with Preston.

Predicted line up: Pandur, Coyle, Egan, Hughes, McLoughlin, Slater, Alzate, Crooks, Gelhardt, Pedro, Joseph

Predication: City 2 Sky Blues 1
